Fort Calhoun

Fort Calhoun is located in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska approximately 19 miles north of Omaha, Nebraska.  The Combustion Engineering PWR is owned and operated by Omaha Public Power District.  The plant is licensed to operate until August 9, 2033.

 

The ISFSI at Fort Calhoun began accepting SNF in 2006 pursuant to a general license.  As of the end of 2011 there were 320 assemblies stored in 10 dry casks.  The casks are manufactured by Transnuclear — the NUHOMs cask system and the 32 PT canister type.  As of the end of 2008, there were 840 metric tons of SNF stored at the two nuclear power plant sites in the State of Nebraska — Cooper and Fort Calhoun.
