Seabrook Station Unit 1 is located in Seabrook, New Hampshire approximately 13 miles south of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Westinghouse PWR is operated by NextEra Energy Resources Seabrook, LLC and owned (88.1%) by NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, which is wholly owned by NextEra Energy, Inc. The plant is also owned (11.6%) by Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Co., and owned (0.1%) by Taunton Municipal Light Plant and owned (0.1%) by Hudson Light & Power Dept. The plant is licensed to operate until March 15, 2030.
The ISFSI for Seabrook began accepting SNF in July 2008 pursuant to a general license. The ISFSI is located outside the plant’s security perimeter, approximately 1,300 feet west of the reactor building, but within its own security fences. The ISFSI consists of a single concrete pad approximately 370 feet long by 40 feet wide. As of the end of 2008, there were 192 SNF assemblies stored in 6 dry casks. (The photo shows ten storage modules.) The cask manufacturer is Transnuclear — the NUHOMS cask system and the 32PT canister type. As of the end of 2010, there were 510 metric tons of SNF stored at Seabrook.
