South Texas Project Units 1 and 2 are located in Bay City, Texas approximately 90 miles southwest of Houston, Texas. The Westinghouse PWRs are operated by STP Nuclear Operating Company. The units are owned (44%) by NRG Energy Inc., CPS Energy (40%), and Austin Energy (16%). Unit 1 is licensed to operate until August 20, 2027. Unit 1 is licensed to operate until December 15, 2028. STP Nuclear Operating Company has not yet announced its plans for an ISFSI. As of the end of 2010, there were 1,980 metric tons of SNF stored at the two nuclear power plant sites located in the State of Texas — Comanche Peak and South Texas Project.
